- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, almonds or pecans)
Instructions
- Combine butter, sugar, and water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir constantly until the mixture boils.
- Continue to boil, stirring frequently, until the candy thermometer reads 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and pour the toffee mixture into the prepared baking pan.
- Once the toffee cools slightly, sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly on top.
- Allow the chocolate to melt for a minute, then spread it evenly across the toffee surface.
- If desired, top with chopped nuts before letting it cool completely at room temperature.
- Once completely cooled, break the toffee into pieces and enjoy!
