- 1 pound boneless (skinless chicken breasts or thighs)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 small onion (finely diced)
- 1 cup heavy cream (or half & half for a lighter option)
- ½ cup chicken broth
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
- 1 cup basmati rice (rinsed)
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Sear for 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove chicken and let it rest. In the same pan, add butter, then sauté minced garlic and diced onion for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add rinsed basmati rice to the pan, stir to coat the grains. Pour in chicken broth, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover. Let rice simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender.
- In the same pan after removing rice, add heavy cream and chicken broth. Stir in thyme, rosemary, oregano, and Parmesan cheese. Simmer for a few minutes until thickened.
- Return chicken to the pan, spoon sauce over it, and allow to simmer together for about 5 minutes.
- Serve creamy herb chicken over basmati rice, garnished with fresh parsley and lemon zest.
Notes
For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. Adjust sauce consistency with chicken broth if needed.
