Description

A quick and savory dish combining lean ground beef and fresh broccoli, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 34 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (or ground sirloin)
  • 23 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 810 cranks freshly-ground black pepper
  • Sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Warm olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is shimmering, add broccoli and cook, tossing frequently, for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Remove the broccoli to a plate and set aside.
  3. Add ground beef and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 5-6 minutes, breaking the meat into small pieces until it’s mostly browned.
  4. Drain excess fat if needed. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, toasted sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the browned beef and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Return the broccoli to the pan and toss everything to coat evenly with sauce. Season with salt to taste, and serve immediately over rice or noodles. If desired, garnish with sesame seeds.
