Homemade McGriddle In Under 30 Minutes

Description

A delightful and nostalgic breakfast experience, combining fluffy pancakes with savory sausage, creamy cheese, and crispy bacon.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground breakfast sausage (or 4 sausage patties)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup (200ml) whole milk
  • 4 tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 ¼ cups (160g) flour
  • ⅔ cup (150ml) milk
  • 2 7/8 tbsps. (40g) melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 slices of crispy bacon
  • 4 slices American cheese

Instructions

  1. Place the ground sausage in a bowl and gently massage with your hands. Form 4 meat patties and then season with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the patties over medium heat on a grill pan for about 2-3 minutes on each side until nicely browned.
  3. Take a medium-sized bowl, crack the 6 eggs, and whisk the yolks and whites together. Add the cup of whole milk and whisk to combine thoroughly.
  4. Coat a large pan with 1 tbsp. of softened butter and add 1/4 of the egg mixture into it.
  5. Cook the omelette on your stovetop over low heat for a few minutes on one side. Add a pinch of sea salt, then flip and cook for another minute.
  6. Gently fold the omelette into thirds, then into a square towards the top of the omelet for even cooking. Repeat this process with the rest of the eggs until you have prepared 4 fluffy omelettes.
  7. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt. Then add the milk, another egg, melted butter, and maple syrup.
  8. Mix gently until you achieve a smooth, thick batter, ready for pancakes.
  9. Coat a non-stick pan with a little melted butter. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of pancake batter onto the hot surface. Cook for about a minute or two until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another minute. Repeat this process until you have 8 delicious pancakes.
  10. While the pancakes are cooking, cook the bacon on a separate pan until crispy.
  11. Now assemble your Homemade McGriddles. Place one hot pancake on a plate and add a slice of American cheese on it.
  12. Next, layer the sausage patty on top of the cheese, followed by the creamy omelette and crispy bacon.
  13. Finally, top with a second pancake, creating a tasty sandwich. Repeat until you create 4 satisfying McGriddles.
