- 1/2 cup (120 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200 g) white sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) buttermilk
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350ºF and let it heat up. Gently coat an 8 or 9-inch circular baking dish with non-stick spray. Place a round piece of parchment paper at the bottom of the dish.
- For the topping, melt the butter and combine it with brown sugar and cloves.
- Pour this mixture into the base of an 8-inch baking pan.
- Arrange the peach slices over the sugar mixture and set the pan aside.
- For the cake, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl and keep it ready.
- Whisk the butter and sugar together until the mixture becomes light and airy.
- Incorporate the vanilla extract and eggs, and blend until everything is well mixed.
- Mix in the buttermilk, followed by the flour combination.
- Spread the cake batter over the peach layer, and bake it in the middle of the oven for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
