- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup strawberry puree
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Frosting (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk until combined.
- Divide the batter into three bowls. Add cocoa powder to one bowl for the chocolate layer, strawberry puree to another for the strawberry layer, and leave the third plain for the vanilla layer.
- Pour each flavored batter into its own prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost the layers with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry frosting accordingly, stacking them on top of each other to form the Neapolitan cake.
- Slice and serve!
