Ingredients
Scale
- 5 lb (680 g) chicken thigh
- 4 cups (946 ml) broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ginger
- 1 clove green onion
- 1 clove sesame seed
- 1/2 cup (118 ml) soy sauce
- 1/4 cup (59 ml) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (59 ml) water
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) cornstarch
- 3 cups (709 g) white rice
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, water, and cornstarch to create the sauce.
- Warm up the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok on medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook them until they turn brown, which should take around 5-7 minutes.
- Introduce the broccoli to the pan with the chicken, cooking it until the broccoli reaches a tender-crisp state, roughly 3-5 minutes.
- Drizzle the prepared sauce over the chicken and broccoli. Stir everything together and let it simmer until the sauce becomes thick, approximately 2-3 minutes.
- Plate the Mongolian chicken stir-fry over steamed white rice. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a healthier twist, opt for chicken breast over chicken thigh.
- Enhance the flavor by marinating the chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Feel free to incorporate additional veggies like bell peppers or snap peas for added color and nutrients.
