  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (200 g)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (200 g)
  • 1 cup milk (240 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (16 g)
  • 3 tablespoons butter (43 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (1 g)
  • 8 lasagna noodles
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  6. Add the ground beef or chicken to the skillet, cooking until browned and fully cooked.
  7. Pour in the barbecue sauce, mixing well with the meat and onion mixture.
  8. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.
  9. In a separate saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  10. Stir in 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour to form a roux, cooking for 1 minute.
  11. Gradually whisk in 1 cup of milk, ensuring no lumps remain.
  12. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens.
  13. Season the sauce with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
  14. Add 2 cups of shredded cheddar and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella to the sauce, stirring until melted and smooth.
  15. Mix the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce.
  16. Boil the lasagna noodles in salted water until al dente, then drain.
  17. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, place a layer of lasagna noodles.
  18. Spread half of the meat mixture over the noodles.
  19. Layer half of the macaroni and cheese mixture on top.
  20. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella evenly over the macaroni layer.
