Description

A comforting dish featuring al dente penne pasta, vibrant green peas, and crispy bacon, all enveloped in a silky cream sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ yellow onion (diced very small)
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 6 thick slices of bacon (cut into small pieces)
  • ¾ pound penne pasta
  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions, but reduce cooking time by one minute.
  3. Throw in the frozen peas to the pot halfway through cooking the pasta.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the finely diced onion and the bacon, cooking until both are crisp but not burned.
  6. Drain the pasta and peas, and combine them with the onion-bacon mixture in the skillet.
  7. Lower the heat to medium and stir in the heavy cream, mixing well.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

Garnish with freshly chopped herbs like parsley or basil for a pop of flavor and color. A splash of cream can restore moisture when reheating.
