Description

Transform ordinary jalapeños into a sweet and spicy treat with this delicious Cowboy Candy recipe, perfect for burgers, sandwiches, or as a stand-alone delight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds fresh jalapeños, sliced
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed

Instructions

  1. Prepare jalapeños by removing stems and slicing into 1/4-inch rounds. Wear gloves for safety.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine apple cider vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, ground turmeric, and celery seed. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
  4. Add jalapeño slices to the saucepan and bring back to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat again and simmer for an additional 4 minutes.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to transfer jalapeños to clean glass canning jars.
  7. Boil the remaining syrup for 6 minutes and pour over jalapeños, covering completely.
  8. Wipe jar rims clean, seal jars tightly, and store in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks before enjoying.

Notes

Allowing the jars to rest enhances flavors. Consider adjusting sweetness or spiciness to suit your taste.
