Description

A hearty and flavorful combination of ground meat and tender potatoes, enhanced by aromatic spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, lamb, or chicken)
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 23 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cooking for another minute.
  4. Add the ground meat and cook until browned.
  5. Mix in chopped tomatoes, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  6. Add diced potatoes and enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.
  7. Stir in garam masala and cook for another 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with rice or bread. For added flavor, consider letting your onions caramelize slightly longer.
