Description

A delightful twist on a classic Sloppy Joe, featuring savory beef and gooey melted cheese on crusty French bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 1/2 yellow onion (diced)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (15 ounce) can sloppy joe sauce
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° F.
  2. Cut the loaf of French bread in half lengthwise and place it on a lined baking sheet.
  3. Cook the diced onions with a little butter or oil in a large sauté pan for 3-4 minutes or until soft.
  4. Add the ground beef to the onions, crumbling it until it is no longer pink.
  5. Drain any excess grease using a paper towel.
  6. Stir in the sloppy joe sauce, mixing well to incorporate all flavors.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly over the bread halves.
  8. Top the filled bread with shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese melts, and the edges of the bread become toasty.
  10. Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy!

Notes

For added heat, consider adding hot sauce or crushed red pepper to the beef mixture. Fresh herbs can be used for garnish before serving.
