Description

A decadent dessert combining rich chocolate and nutty pecans, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 store-bought pie crust (or homemade)
  • 1 egg white (lightly beaten for brushing)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (semi-sweet or bittersweet)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves (toasted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fit your pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, crimping the edges for a lovely presentation.
  3. Spread your pecan halves on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for 8-10 minutes. Once they are fragrant and golden, remove them and allow them to cool.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Set this melted chocolate aside to cool slightly.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir in the cooled melted chocolate until combined.
  6. Brush the pie crust with the lightly beaten egg white. Add half of the toasted pecans evenly across the bottom.
  7. Pour the chocolate filling over the pecans and top with the remaining pecans for a decorative finish.
  8. Bake your pie for 50–60 minutes, until the edges are set and the center slightly jiggles when you gently shake the pie.
  9. If your crust browns too quickly, use foil or a pie shield to protect it.
  10. Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Serve it at room temperature or chilled, with optional whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.

Notes

Use fresh, high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor. Allow the pie to cool at room temperature to set properly before slicing.
